We are recruiting a Junior Scientist in Electrophysiology

Ulysses Neuroscience Ltd is a private research organisation based in The Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN) at Trinity College Dublin and in the Department of Chemistry at Maynooth University, Ireland. We are a patient-centric company with our roots deeply anchored on foundations of ground-breaking science and translational high-quality research in neurological, neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.

The Junior Scientist will be based in Maynooth University and will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team which undertakes preclinical and clinical scientific research in a variety of areas including animal models, behavioural pharmacology, molecular and neurophysiological biomarkers and experimental medicine. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical science or a related field. This role requires independent thinking and execution as well as interpersonal and communications skills, a pro-active sense of ownership and initiative, and discretion in handling confidential information.

Junior Scientist in Electrophysiology

Requirements:

  • Min. 2 years postdoctoral experience, preferably in preclinical and clinical research
  • Hands-on experience working with rodents and electrophysiological research (e.g., local field potentials, single-unit recordings, sleep EEG)
  • Experience with stereotaxic surgery and operant behavioural testing
  • Place fundamental value on translational research in neuroscience
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Critical interpretation of data and statistical analysis
  • Self-motivated, showing initiative and creative thinking, with a proactive, resourceful attitude to problem solving and solution implementation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through with a high-level of accuracy
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic organisation
  • Willingness to learn, share responsibilities, facilitate collaboration, and support the success of others: a team player and an advocate of our company values
  • Ability to build successful relationships with all levels of internal staff and external partners

Responsibilities

  • To perform this role successfully the post holder must carry out the following responsibilities;
  • Assisting with studies as required by our research collaborators
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams across different areas of the business
  • Assisting with the analysis of research data
  • Contributing to associated administrative duties

Desirable Requirements:

  • LAST-Ireland accreditation (LAST training will be provided to successful candidates who don’t currently hold it)
  • Proficient in molecular biology and biochemical techniques
  • Experience with voltammetry and/or microdialysis
